About us
Our Mission
To follow Christ in His mission by and through the fixing of our eyes and lives on Him, the loving of our brothers and sisters in Him, and the loving of the world and the lost.

Asheville Hope Community Church is a church plant, by God's good providence, with established, as well as, new and growing relationships worshipping together. We have strong community connections, and a gospel vision for Asheville. Spiritual renewal is part of our past and current experience as well as our desire for the future. Living life in a relationship with Jesus is our core motivation. We are currently in the application phase as a Mission Church in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church's Presbytery of the Central Carolinas.
We desire to seek Jesus Christ first in our lives. Through the Holy Spirit, we also desire to regularly point and restore one another to Him while we seek the flourishing of the communities where God has called us to dwell and pray to the Lord on their behalf (Jeremiah 29:7). Out of the hope laid up for us in heaven, we desire to love our neighbor so that the Gospel might bear fruit and increase in Asheville and Buncombe County (Colossians 1:5-6). We desire strong biblical teaching and gospel living, not letting theological propositions prevail over people's needs, or cultural and political predispositions come before New Testament Christianity. Because God is bringing brothers and sisters in Christ from all sides of the Asheville area to Asheville Hope Community, we want to worship centrally in our city and go out from there to walk and abide with the unchurched.

Hi, I’m Andrew Belz. I’m excited to see what God can do with “clay” here at Hope. Clay can be formed and shaped—and then is very useful That’s what I want to be right now at our new fellowship, as we submit to God’s will. I want God to lead, and if we follow and listen for his voice, great things will happen.

I enjoy the simple community and worship we have at Hope. Loving God and loving neighbor through the simple Gospel message of Jesus Christ is very freeing and exciting. Marriage brought me to the cool mountains from the low country heat of South Carolina and I have never looked back!

I hope ‘a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen’, and for Community- ‘fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.’ I am patiently waiting as He is leading us. ’Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding…’

I am excited to see what the Lord will do through AVL Hope Community Church! I love the idea of hope…the yearning for what will be better. We come needy and, in His great mercy, God uses community to bring us deeper into true knowledge of Him.

worship TEAM
We believe all creation was made to joyfully worship God the Father and His Son Jesus now and through eternity. The Worship Team seeks to fulfill this calling by prayerfully ordering our worship services and arranging for speakers, scripture readers and music leaders. We hope to include all who wish to be involved in our worship service, according to their gifts and experience.

I was born and raised in Asheville. My favorite things to do include playing with 6 grandchildren, working on my landscape, keeping up with our 5 adult kids and enjoying Asheville’s best burger spots with my best friend, Julia.

I’m a CPA and my wife Susan and I have been in the Asheville area for over 25 years. We have two children and two grandchildren living in southern Louisiana. I am so grateful to be working and worshiping at Asheville Hope, and sharing the joy and purpose the gospel gives us. In our fellowship I’m helpfully reminded of the loving presence and work of Jesus in our lives every day. We come to him with open hands, with nothing He needs from us, and He gives us everything – forgiveness, acceptance, love, and peace.
